Breast health organization to hold Breakfast of Champions

The Auxiliary of Panhandle Breast Health is holding its annual Breakfast of Champions on at 10 a.m. Saturday at Abuelo’s Restaurant, 3501 West 45th Ave., according to a news release.

Tickets are $30 to the event, which has a theme this year of “Men Speak to Breast Cancer.”

A male survivor, husbands, brothers and sons will give their perspective on coping with breast cancer and its effect on them. The organization is also awarding the “One Person Making a Difference in the Texas Panhandle” award to Carolyn Witherspoon, Executive Director of Coalition of Health Services Inc.

Panhandle Breast Health, formerly Amarillo Area Breast Health Coalition, has served the Texas Panhandle for more than 20 years. PBH is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization that connects uninsured women to vital, no-cost screening services such as mammograms and pap tests, according to the release.

PBH programs and services are free to the public, and PBH’s ground troops lead in breast health education, helping local women learn about breast health practices, healthy lifestyles and “where and how” to get screening services they need.
